Name: Wolfen Moondaugter (aka Stacy Hausl)
Training: I had art classes every year of school (including both 2-D and 3-D classes as a high school sophomore, and three hours a day of Independent Study, as well as Methods for the Professional Artist, as a Senior). Then two years at the American Academy of Art, from which I graduated with an Associates, having Majored in Illustration and Minored in Graphic Design. I've also excelled academically in reading and writing, having always been in the highest-level reading groups (often two or three grades above the grade I was actually in) in elementary school, as well as the AP English classes in middle school and high school. I graduated high school with Honors. I took Accelerated Reading and Creative Writing in high school, and took Creative Writing, Copy-Writing, and "Understanding Comics" in college.
Skills:
Illustration/Graphic Design:
I strongly prefer to work in Photoshop, with a Wacom Graphire 3, but I'm also adept at graphite, acrylics, markers, and coloured pencils. I do NOT send originalsclients receive digital files only. I prefer to work with organic and fantasy-oriented subject matter. I;m most talented at photorealistic portraits. My natural illustrative style is probably best described as an amalgam of Disney, anime, and "comic book", but I can emulate some other styles. (It should be noted that I have no interest in drawing tanks, or mercenaries, or machinery). I've been known to dabble in photo-manipulation now and then, and own a digital camera (Sony Cybershot, 7.2 megapixels). Professionally, I've done covers for two webzines (Sequential Tart and Feenix), sequential pages for the webcomic Gun Street Girl, spot illustrations for Dragonlance, and personal commissions for private citizens.
Writing:
Non-fiction:
I've been an "entertainment journalist" since the fall of 2001. I'm an assistant Review Editrix (one of four) for Sequential Tart, a webzine for which I've written reviews, conducted interviews, run three columns, and written articles on a variety of subjects. I write a column on Stargate Atlantis for the blog Pink Raygun. I've done freelance writing for the Japanese pop-culture magazine Newtype USA (many reviews, two articles, and one interview.) I was also a contributor to the book Animation on DVD, from Stonebridge Press, for which I wrote summaries for various animated DVDs' contents.
Fiction:
I have published a novel, Memory of the Brightwing, the first in a series called New Avalon. I've written some original short stories (one of which was the title story of a homoerotic anthology called Chase and Other Stories), numerous fanfics (based on properties that allow it), and have regularly participated in a number of online round-robin roleplaying clubs. It's a rare day indeed that I don't write something.
Webmastering:
Professionally, I maintain the websites for The Village Pedaler and Creative Engravings. Having started "webbing" in '98, I also maintain my own personal string of sites devoted to my various interests. I do all my own graphics, and work with raw HTML, CSS, and the occasional bit of Javascript. I do not know PHP, PSP, Perl, CGI script, or any of that "fancy" stuff but if you look around my site, I think you'll find that it's quite possible to make dynamic sites without any of that.
