Books and Art

Authors, artists, and works that have inspired my own ...

Authors

Official J. K. Rowling: The personal site of the critically acclaimed author of Harry Potter. She's truly an inspiration for authors everywhere -- my dream is to reach as many people with my stories as she has! ^_^
Moon and Unicorn: The personal site of the fantasy-writer. Merideth Ann Peirce. Her Firebringer Trilogy is amazing, especially the first book, Birth of the Firebringer, which is one of the most influential books of my life. And thanks to that series, I've made some wonderful friends at the MSN community, Unicorns of the Vale, home of the International Firebringer Appreciation Society. I got to interview her for Sequential Tart, along with my fellow valemember, Skywater Blue.
Charles De Lint's Homepage: The personal site of the fantasy-horror writer. I'm not one to play favorites, but De Lint is probably my all-around fave author. Memory & Dream, Wolf Moon, Trader, Someplace to be Flying, and The Onion Girl are my fav books from him. He's the master of the Urban Fantasy... And I got to interview him for Sequential Tart! :P
George R. R. Martin: The personal site of the fantasy writer/screenwriter. His "Song of Ice and Fire" series is just breathtaking! I love Tyrion! Martin also wrote for the TV series "Beauty and the Beast". I got to interview him for Sequential Tart too! :P
Christopher Golden: The personal site of the fantasy writer/comic writer. He writes Buffy novels & comics, as well as original fiction and for other comic series. He also wrote the first three X-Men novels, "Mutant Saga". I interviewed him for Sequential Tart, and he's been a guest in our Buffy chat a coupla times ...
Logston's Lair: The personal website of fantasy author Anne Logston. I LOVE the "Shadow" series, & Firewalk was really good too...
Hi Piers: The personal site of author Piers Anthony. Xanth is a great place to visit, but "The Immortals" series is his masterwork
Tamora Pierce's Web Page: The teen's fantasy author's personal site. I was looking for Meredith's books when I discovered her, & bought all her books at once. Don't be scared by "teen", it's very well written...
Neil Gaiman: Official site of the fantasy/horror author/comic-writer. Good Omens which he co-wrote with Terry Pratchett, is one of the funniest novels ever written! And his "Sandman" series from DC/Vertigo is briliant and imaginative.
Tara K. Harper: Official site of the fantasy author, whose works feature women bonded with animals. Gayle Greeno is another such author (she has no website)
William Gibson: Official site of the hard sci-fi author, whose works feature cyberspace. He's a very nice guy, and his book Idoru is quite a head-trip, makes you really think.
NobleDead.com: Official site of the married writing team of Barbara and JC Hendee, authors of The Saga of the Noble dead (and very nice people. A couple of my reviews of their books have been quoted in the front of Thief of Lives! ^^).

Publishers

Scholastic Animorphs: Official website for the series by K.A. Applegate. It may be an internediate-level series, but it's VERY well-written. I would wring my hands in anticipation, waiting each month for the next... Excpet that the end disappointed me greatly. Read this seres, do, but stop with like the last ten books or so.
Firebird Books: A division of Penguin Putnam, editor Sharyn November, a very nice wman, has set about republishing old faves form great authors, such as Charles de Lint, Meredith Ann Pierce, Nancy Springer, Lloyd Alexander, Robin McKinley, & more!

Comics

Sequential Tart: the webzine I write for that is devoted to comics and related media ... elfquest dot com: Official site of Warp Graphics. EQ was a MAJOR influence growing up. (Wolves, fantasy, comics-- am I seeing a connection here? ^_^) Skywise is my fav character.
Marvel.Com: The Official site of Marvel Comics. They got me into comics full force, back when all I would read was EQ. X-men is my fav, Rogue & Gambit...
DC Comics: I'm not a huge fan of DC, but I like the concepts of Batman, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, & Poison Ivy, & I miss "Amethyst" & "Warlord"...
Viz Communications, Inc: US publishers of Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkoku, & other "manga" (japanese comics). Rumiko Takahashi is awesome!!!! I luv Ranma (the character)...
The Official TMNT Website!: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I still have my vast collection of comics (Miarge Studios AND Archie) and toys, as well as several fan-pics of Raph & Selina together...
Chicago Comics: ... is the store where I usually get my "fix". Nice setup, cool employees, good slelection of books & toys. And my comic will be sold there someday soon...

Artists

DrewStruzan.com: The famous artist behind many movie posters and book covers -- I am the happy owner of a copy of his Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone movie poster.
The World of Froud: offical site for Brian and Wendy Froud, and their son, Tobey. Brian is the 2-d artist of Lady Cottington's Pressed Faery Book fame, and Wendy a dollmaker. Both of them collaborated on the designs for The Dark Crystal and Labrynth ...

RPGs (Role Playing Games)

White Wolf Online: They make rpgs such as Werewolf: the Apocalypse. I don't really RP much, but the books make for very entertaining reading!
Wizards of the Coast: Home of Dungeons & Dragons, Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms ... These books & games have been major contributors to the fantasy community for YEARS...
Dragonlance.com: The official Dragonlance site hosted by one of the licensees, Sovereign Press, a company owned my Margaret Weis (whom I've interviewed for Tart), for which I have done some work. I am very fond of the series' morally-questionable wizard, Raistlin Majere ....
