Rahkly, male lead singer and lead guitarist of both Oberon's Minstrel's and Brightwing's Pack, likes to keep copies of his lyric sheets here at the Gossiping Corvid, for convenience's sake. ...
(Wolfie here. This page has mild spoilers. Probably not anything one couldn't figure out on one's own, but still ... In Memory, we learn that several New Avalon characters -- Rahkly, Brom, and Ziggy -- make up the band known as "Oberon's Minstrels". And we know in passing that Selina has a decent voice herself. So it only stands to reason that she eventually would join the band, which would be renamed "Brightwing's Pack". So the idea, if this series ever gets of the ground, is to eventually have a soundtrack by "Brightwing's Pack". This page is for songs that would be on that album. ...)
(Wolfie again. The following is a pagan chant I wrote a while back, that I included in Memory, where Selina recited it, and will likely be sung by the band later.)
Moon Chant
"Moon Mother, full and bright,
bless me on this Esbat night
And by Your will, Your wax and wane,
grant the favor that I name
"Moon Goddess of the sea
show to me my destiny
By your will, the ebbing tide
guide me to the Other Side
"Moon Mother Bast, so bright,
guide me with your silvery light,
And by your love's soft sweet refrain,
unite me with my love again
"Moon Goddess in the sky,
watch o'er us with your silvery eye
There you shine, so high above
Protecting with eternal love!"
(Wolfie again. Now, I can manage some poetry now and again, but I'm no maestro, so I asked my dear friend and editor, Kelly Mitchell, to help me out. I told her about already existing songs that create stories in my mind, pointed out what the songs meant to me as far as New Avalon went. She took those themes & the musical styles accompanying them, and ran with them! So here, for your viewing pleasure, are the lyrics for the first song she wrote--more to come later!)
Champion
You call me the Brightwing
Say I’m a champion
Savior of magic
When two worlds collide
But...
I’m not who you think I am
Then again I don’t know me
I’m no one’s champion
Don’t give me that responsibility
Let me investigate
See who I really am
My life before I washed up
Upon your sandy shores
I had a life before this one
Although I cannot recall
Let me be myself
And not be Brightwing
Because...
I’m not who you think I am
Then again I don’t know me
I’m no one’s champion
Don’t give me that responsibility
Past lives I can recall
I remember you all
Not as you are today
But a long time ago
You call me the Brightwing
Say I’m a champion
I remember doing great things
Long, long time ago.
So ...
Maybe I’m who you think I am
After all I don’t know me
Maybe I’m a champion
But let’s just wait and see
You call me the Brightwing
Say I’m a champion
I remember doing great things
Long, long time ago.
Maybe I’m who you think I am
After all I don’t know me
Maybe I’m a champion
But please let’s just
wait and see
