Notes: This fic is meant as an accompanyment to a drawing I did of Daniel and Vala as ponies and custom My Little Ponies that I made of them. (Links open in a new window.)
[An eager Vala talks Daniel into accompanying her through the Stargate to a planet she'd once been to. Once there, she leads Daniel to a stream and coaxes him into taking a drink, taking one herself.
Daniel, feeling woozy, finds himself falling to the ground, and reaches out with his hands -- only to find hooves in their place. Alarmed, he looks up at Vala ... and finds a purple pony wearing something that looks much like Vala's uniform, its mane in black ponytails, grinning at him.]
Daniel [incredulous]: Vala??
Vala: Yup! Ohhh, you're adorable as a pony! I just knew you would be! Turn around, I want to see your symbols! [Circles him to take a look]
Daniel [turning his head to follow her]: ... You ... wanted to see what I would look like as a-a pony? I'm not sure what's more disturbing, the fact that you wanted to do this in the first place, or the fact that you think I'm "adorable" like this!
Vala: Oh, Daniel, don't be such a fuddy-duddy! [Come back to stand in front of him and pirouettes] Don't you think I make a pretty pony, darling?
Daniel [thoughtful for a moment]: Yeah, actua--[shaking the thought away and scowling] No! How do we turn back?
Vala [pouting]: Oh, come off it, Daniel! We're both ponies right now -- you shouldn't be ashamed to admit I'm beautiful like this! [Grinning] Just think of how adorable our babies would be!
Daniel: Ah, I'd rather not, thanks. I just want my body -- and my pants -- back! [Thinks to himself, Now I know how Mitchell feels ...]
Vala [turning her back to him in a huff]: Well, there's nothing for you to do then but stand there and wait for the transformation to wear off. Me, I'm going to make the best of it and enjoy myself!
[Vala canters away, hair streaming behind her. She leaps over small hills, whinnying in delight. Daniel stares after her, frowning. His frowns fades as he sees how much she really does seem to be enjoying herself, the visible epitome of a free spirit. He shakes his head, and starts to smile.]
Daniel: Hey Vala, wait up!
[Daniel chases after her, and is surprised at the rush that fills him as he feels the ground being pounded under his hooves. He even overtakes Vala, before she puts on the speed and stays neck and neck with him.
A little over an hour later, they come stumbling back through the Stargate into SGC together, laughing and grinning. Landry is waiting for them at the bottom of the ramp, arms crossed, looking bemused.]
Daniel [giving an embarrassed cough]: Uh, General Landry, sir, we got a sample of something you may find interesting. [Holds up a canteen].
Vala: Yes, why don't you try some right now, sir?
Daniel [alarmed]: Uh, no, I think we should get this to the lab. [To Landry] I'll have a report on your desk within the hour.
[Daniel and Vala hurry out of the Gateroom.]
Vala: We're still going to give some to to the rest of SG-1, though, right?
Daniel [snorting a laugh]: Yeah, I can't wait to see Mitchell's reaction ....

She sniffed audibly. "I didn’t watch it on my player. I watched it with--"
And the song restarted down the hall and coming closer. Vala joined in, grinning, as Teal'c came in the room. "Impossible! Things are happening eeeevryyyyy daaaaay!"
Daniel thunked his head down on the desk. "I give up."

Title: Gods Rest Ye Merry Stargate Folk
Rating: PG
Summary: A parody of the song "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", spurred by this thread at the A Dog's Breakfast message board ... Also, if you weren't already painfuly aware, this is an homage to Rodney Mckay. With, um, some creative liberties. XD
Notes: I tried to keep this all as true to the original rhymes as I possibly could, particularly since so many of the words fit so well with Atlantis, like "shepherd"! Of course, you have to get a bit creative with the way you sing certain words, to get the timing right. Check out the original carol here. This song won Dragon*Con's Star Gate Offworld Fandom Track's 2008 Fanworks Contest, in the Poetry category!
